Dot gain
Dotgain or Tonal Value Increase is the difference between the halftone values in the original and the halftone values in print. This difference is caused by printing technology.
The portal for colour binding proofs, colour proofs, digital proofs, online proofs. Compact knowledge on colour management, graphics, measuring technology & more.
Dotgain or Tonal Value Increase is the difference between the halftone values in the original and the halftone values in print. This difference is caused by printing technology.
In the case of a dot proof, the halftone screening of the final print is simulated in the proof. This screening shows possible moiré or other disturbing effects, that by dot proofing can be seen in advance on the proof.
EAN = European Article Number. The EAN has been replaced by the GTIN = Global Trade Identification Number in 2009.

Film lamination is a thin foil coating which helps to protect the product (e.g. a book) from dirt and traces of use.
With frequency-modulated screening (non-periodic screening), the halftone dots are distributed pseudo-randomly. Different tonal values result from the varying number of dots of the same size on one surface.
Fogra Technology Research Association with headquarters in Munich is a service provider for the printing industry.
Gamma is the graphical area the abbreviation for gamma correction, a non-standardized method of measurement of contrast for scanners, monitors and photographic materials.
The gamut (also colour gamut) refers to the range of all colours in a colour space that can be recognised (camera, scanner) or reproduced (printer, monitor) by a device.
It is visualised in the form of a colour solid.
The conversion of colour values from one colour space (e.g. sRGB on the monitor) to another colour space (e.g. CMYK in print) so that the colour reproduction remains as consistent as possible.
