ECI

The ECI – the European Color Initiative – is a group of experts working on the media-neutral processing of colour data in digital publishing systems. It was founded in Hamburg in June 1996 on the initiative of the publishing houses Bauer, Burda, Gruner+Jahr and Springer.

The ECI is currently the body responsible for the creation and publication of colour profiles in Europe. New standards such as Fogra 51 and 52 are supervised by Fogra in the initial phase and then handed over to the ECI for further development and publication. All currently valid colour profiles for proofing and printing can be downloaded from the ECI website. Older versions are also available here.

The ECI runs mailing lists via Callas where colour management enthusiasts can exchange information and ask questions to colleagues.

The ECI mailing lists and a link with instructions on how to register can be found here.
